The Ghost of Xbox Launches Past: Part 3, XBLA

Xbox Live Arcade... This was kind of like a revelation to me.  Xbox Live Arcade started off as a bunch of smaller non-retail downloadable games.  The games were either $5 or $10.  As the generation went on, file sizes and prices increased and the games seemed to change their focus to more of a games on demand focus (instead of quick pick up and play games).

This also introduced the awesome Microsoft Points system (yes, I really liked it).  It did take a few hours/purchases to get the hang of the system. There could be one price across all regions (in so called Allard bucks).  It was awesome not having to pay sales tax on these cards (or the games, I don't think it is the same with the Xbox One) and there were many sales/promotions (like Bing).

My first purchases on XBLA were probably around December or January 2005 (or 2006).  I can't remember exactly what they are, but Bejeweled 2 and Outpost Kaloki X were probably some of them.  RoboBlitz was my first $15 (1200 pts) game.  I still resent the $15 game (even though that and the $20 game will be much more common in this next generation).  Luckily for me, there were a bunch of sales throughout this generation on downloadable games.
