Dview: Oblivion GOTY Edition (Xbox 360)

The Bottom Line:
Oblivion is an open world action-RPG that can last hundreds of hours if you want to do everything (at least that is what i have heard).  Oblivion was the follow up game to Morrowind and pre-dates Skyrim.  Overall this game is decent, but playing it right after Skyrim sure made the game look worse (at least from a graphical standpoint).

When Oblivion first came out it was plagued by all kinds of bugs (it still has some) and had been known to crash.  The GOTY (game of the year) version seemed to be more stable and run faster when installed on the hard drive.  Sadly, this is the third version of this game i have ownerd.  The story is fairly weak and forgettable.  However, the price of this game has dropped into the $19.99 range.

There is numerous DLC, much of it of questionable worth.  Afterall, this game spawned horse armor.  Basically the most substantial DLC was Shivering Isles (which is extremely overpriced relative to the cost of the GOTY or 5th Anniversary editions).  There is also Kinghts of the Nine that added a little to the game (it came in the GOTY, but i didn't really do the quest(s)).
Grade: C

What to Expect:
* Using 7 main skills, level up
* Enemies (and allegedly treasure) that scale difficulty (levels) with you
* A bunch of ruins and caves to explore
* 4 Guild quest lines to do + an arena - if you are so inclined
* Numerous enemies to fight and quests to do (no dragons)
* Shrine quests that can reward you with powerful items

How i Played:
Difficulty: Easy
Play Time: 42 hours, 6 minutes (with Shivering Isles)
Achievements: 60/60 (1,250/1,250 gamerscore) - i played for achievements

Achievements:
In the main game there are 50 achievements good for 1,000 gamerscore.  These are basically for doing questlines - either faction or main quest.  There are an additional 10 achievements worth 250 gamerscore available from The Shivering Isle DLC.
