Dview: Final Fight Double Impact (XBLA)

The Bottom Line:
Final Fight Double Impact is two games in one download (Final Fight and Magic Sword).  Final Fight is a classic side scrolling brawler.  You chose one of three characters and battle through six or so stages until you reach the final cheap boss.  i don't find this to be as good as Streets of Rage.  Magic Sword is a lesser known (by me anyway) side scrolling dungeon crawler brawler.  Basically enemies will attack you from in front and behind.  You need to scale the tower (i think level 50) and fight the final boss.  The collection is spiced up by adding a "vault" which will unlock things like concept art (at least one of them is a full TV episode of Street Fighter animated show, which included Final Fight characters).  You unlock these by doing tasks - like beating a level without losing X lives, beating a level in a certain time, etc.  Many of these might be easier 2 player. 

Grade: B (B- for the games, Extra half grade for the Vault)   

What to Expect:
* Enemies swarming you from 2 sides (in front and behind)
* Classic Brawler format (side scrolling), linear though there is some small degree of lateral movement.  Final Fight you can't go back past the current screen, Magic Sword you can.
* Final Fight: there are punches, drop kicks and throws / Magic Sword - it seems to be mostly button mashing with some platform influence in level design.
* Pretty nice presentation (shows arcade cabinet with screen in middle), Press X at the menu to select the game.

How i Played:
Difficulty: N/A
Time Spent: 4+ hours (can beat one game of Final Fight in about 1 hour)
Achievements:  5/12 (65/200) - could get an additional 3 or so (other account 9/12, 135)

Achievements:
There are 12 achivements for 200 gamerscore.  There are six achievements for Magic Sword, five for Final Fight and one for unlocking everything in the Vault (which will be difficult and time consuming).  The Magic Sword achievements are for things like seeing both endings, beating the final boss and not getting hit in a level.  Final Fight achievements are for things like beating the game with each character, completing the game in co-op and beating the game using less than 18 continues.
