Xbox One

So I just finished watching the next generation Xbox reveal on my console (only had to buffer once).  So, what were my impressions (from what I saw in that conference)?

* The Name: I would have preferred Infinity but I get what the Xbox One name is (underscoring an all-in-one device).  So, I am ok with the name.

* Nature of the reveal: this was never going to be an old school E3 style blowout based off of games. E3 is several weeks away anyway.  This was to show the system and what it could do.  Many people online will say that this was a horrible reveal - I disagree.  I think this was a pretty decent reveal (probably a 7/10 for me).  E3 could be interesting.

* Kinect: I always thought that the real strength and application of Kinect were in its voice controls.  It appears that they have improved Kinect.  Sure there was still lag (evident in the app switching).  It is too soon to tell whether latency issues have been dealt with (or by how much).

* What I like that others may not: app switching, trending (just for curiosity), improvement in Kinect (both voice and movement), split panes (multitasking), Live TV and some things I probably can't place.  It is also nice that Gamerscore will carry over

* Games that looked Remotely interesting to me: Quantum Break, Forza 5

* Bummer: no backwards compatibility

* Things I didn't like: a slot-loaded Blu-ray drive (I hate slot-loaded)

* Questions:
- The redesigned controller: I thought that the Xbox wired controller was one of the best I ever used (I hated the batter bump in the wireless).  I like that they changed the d-pad and might have eliminated the battery bump, but I would have to feel the controller to be sure.
- Price: this is the big one for me.  This box looks expensive.
- Memory: the Xbox One allegedly comes with a 500 GB hard drive.  Is this going to be enough (seeing as all games will have to be installed).  If a game took up 50GB (not too likely), you could only store 10 games (or less at a time)

Latest Rumor I Don't Fully Believe: apparently Wired has an article saying that all Xbox One games must be installed on the hard drive to play.  Then they kind of jump to the conclusion that each disk must be installed to a single user account (a single console makes way more sense) and that there would be a fee for each additional user. The fear is that the console "blocks used games".

I have two Xbox Live Accounts (both silver): if I could install a game on the machine and play on both accounts (for free), I personally don't see an issue - even if the rumor was completely true.

Will I Buy and Xbox One?
That will be a function of price. The most I can currently semi-afford to pay is $299.99 (I doubt I could get $100+ store credit from Gamestop).  I expect this to come in at at least $399.99 (it is a box that seemingly can do a lot, I get the impression from the reveal that it will be expensive).

I would like to get an Xbox One (though my interest in video games seems to be waning), but I think the price is going to be prohibitive.  I bought a ton of games this generation (probably 45-50 retail), I can not afford to go so overboard if I entered the next one.  If I could use it as a wireless cable box (no way that would happen) that would add more value.  In other words, I might have to win the lottery to get one.

So, if I had the money = yes.  Currently = maybe (if things break right).
