Yet another month has mercifully fallen vicitm to the sands of oblivion. Or i guess you could say another month has gone by. So, i decided to look at Game Room leaderboard stats again. Unfortunately, it took me over a day to do - as the server was being uncooperative.
Game Room, if you don't know is a service on the Xbox for retro games. It is taking the retro angle so seriously that no new content has been added for over a year (and it looks like no new content will appear - unless i were to win a very large lottery jackpot).
Apparently, people are still buying some of the games on the service (though not many, judging by Major Nelson's top 20 Xbox Live Arcade game purchases (i've always wondered what the wrinkle was with that - is it straight unit sales, price adjusted sales - ie. one sale = 800 points, etc).
Observed Leaderboard Increases (for Febraury 2 - March 5, 2012):
* Asteroids (2600) (+1,000)
* Galactic Warriors: (+100)
* Laser Blast: (+1,000)
* Major Havoc: (+1,000)
* Missile Command (2600): (+100)
* Scramble: (+1,000)
Summary:
A two games finally crossed the 900 threshhold, there were no new memebers of the 1,000 leaderboard club though. Scramble finally made it to the 10,000 club. Overall, i observed 6 leaderboard increases for a total of 4,200. That was better than last month's 3,400 (but these leaderboards levels take a while to increase).
