So, I recently (ok, August 15th) downloaded Dead Rising 2. I knew it was a zombie slaying game with light crafting elements. However there were a couple of things I didn't know (never playing a Dead Rising game before).
1) Time limits: really, you're going to force me to "race against the clock" that is truly one thing I hate in games. Dead Rising has a lot of areas for me to explore, but they are going to force me to try to just run through the level before the clock hits zero. There is so much potential time where the clock skips several hours to start the next section (this could be time used for zombie slaying, crafting, etc).
2) Escort missions: otherwise known as recue missions. I have to escort those idiot NPCs back to the home base (when the stupid game won't even let me set a navigation point there). It is really easy to get turned around. The NPC's intelligence seems low too. I have to go back through doors because they get stuck. I locked some recued civilians in a maintenance room with the door closed and somehow they still managed to get killed (the zombies I've seen so far can't open doors). Escort missions always suck (especially long, backtracking ones)
3) Vehicles: lame, vehicles in games suck. They never control well and seem unnecessary (especially when there seem to be so many contained areas, like malls or casinos)
4) The B button for everything: there is nothing more annoying than trying to talk to a rescued civilian to get them to follow you and changing clothes instead (or trying to pick something up and putting on clothes instead, giving a nearby zombie ample time to grab you).
At least this game saved me from even remotely being interested in Dead Rising 3 for the Xbox One. On the bright side you can keep your levels/experience and such when you die/fail and restart with them.
What would have made this game better (though who knows if it would have been possible this generation):
1) NO real time limits (or at least use real time, with a rest button, instead of some rapid game time)
2) If you have escort missions, make the drop-off point a lot closer (not have to backtrack through multiple zones and multiple load screens)
3) Selectable nav-points (not just based on objectives), maybe even quick travel back to the base (and/or multiple bases)
4) Vehicles suck, downplay them more (if you have to have them)
5) Weapons: make them much, much stronger (or never break, preferably), also a little more depth in the crafting system would be nice.
6) A sort of set number of zombies. So, when you go on a genocidal zombie rampage and go back to the area there should be a lot less zombies running around (or oddly pacing). Maybe Dead Rising is more of a survival thing (lame), but at least allow thinning out the herd a little (or a lot).
7) Load times: there are too many load screens and they take too long
